Bethania to Beaudesert Rail Trail
19 March 2011
Dear friends and supporters,
Over the past 3 years, moves to establish the rail trail have drawn strong community support from cycling, walking and horse riding user groups.
For Logan City Council the project would represent a key achievement towards its Healthy Communities initiative, and lead to potential benefits for local business and tourism in the Gold Coast – Logan - Scenic Rim region. Council is soon to complete its feasibility study with recommendations due at the next Advisory Committee meeting in June.
However, there are still some yet to be convinced the proposal should go ahead, and there is a danger the initiative may languish.
With this in mind, Logan Bicycle User Group and the Bethania to Beaudesert Rail Trail Support Group are rallying supporters to demonstrate a strong commitment that the proposal should proceed. Local media will be invited and ....
ALL supporters and friends are encouraged to gather near the rail line at:
- The Old Logan Village Road/Bow Street crossing,
- at Waterford - UBD Map 262 Ref Q14.
- When: Sunday 27th March, 3pm
We are pleased to announce the gathering will be attended by Frank Kinnersley from Rail Trails Australia Inc. Frank will share valuable experience gained from other projects, and is planning to attend a special meeting at Logan Council on Monday 28th March, to further discuss the proposal.
