Has a final decision been made on the formation of a Rail Trail between Balhannah (Oakbank) and Mt Pleasant? Meetings were held several months ago but I have not heard of any outcome.

Living in Littlehampton, I too am interested in the Balhannah to Mt Pleasant trail. I often drive the route alongside the old train line and wonder how nice it would be to bike it.

Has there been any further information regarding this???

Regards
John

Hello

We have formed Adelaide Hills Rail Trail Inc. to lobby for this corridor to be turned into a multi use recreational trail, and to promote the benefits of such to the community, and we are a not-for-profit organisation.

Presently there is not much to report, but I can say that the Adelaide Hills Council are awaiting the results of a detailed costing study for the Oakbank to Woodside section, from the Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure (current owners of the corridor). Once this has happened we expect to be informed of the options. In the mean time please check our website for updates, or you may wish to support us by joining or donating.

Regards
AHRT Committee

We received fantastic news this week in that the SA Government have pledged $1M toward stage 1 (Oakbank to Woodside) of the Adelaide Hills Rail Trail, or the Amy Gillett Trail as it will be known.

Thanks to everyone involved in campaigning for the trail over the last decade or so, and in particular my fellow AHRT Inc Committee members who have turned up the heat on the Government in the previous 2 years.

This is an excellent result, now we need to work closely with State and Local Government to get the trail off the ground, so it may be enjoyed by all.

Stage 1 (Oakbank to Woodside) of the Oakbank to Mt Pleasant rail trail (to be known as the Amy Gillett Trail) is officially opening on Saturday January 23rd 2010 at 10am.

We apologise for the late notice, but we have only just been informed ourselves.
