Tasmania

Although the word rail trail is not used in Tasmania, a number of closed railway lines are now accessible for bushwalkers, cyclists, horseriders and four wheel vehicles.

Tasmania's West Coast had a lot of railways serving the mines of the area which have now been converted to trails. Hobart and Devonport each have cycleways running parallel to operating railway lines.

Tasmania's main rail trails are shown on the map above. Choose a region for a complete list of trails.
